Educational Activities
The Herrett Center educator develops and facilitates a wide variety of engaging educational programs designed to connect Southern Idaho students with the world around us. Through hands-on activities, presentations, and interactive experiences, these programs explore topics including Idaho history, natural history, science, culture, and more. Each program is created to inspire curiosity, encourage learning, and provide meaningful educational experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

Planetarium Shows
The Faulkner Planetarium Director carefully selects planetarium shows that explore a wide range of engaging and educational topics for audiences of all ages. From space exploration and the wonders of the night sky to animals, Earth science, natural phenomena, and beyond, these immersive programs are an immersive learning opportunity for students.

Observatory Programs
The Centennial Observatory offers students the opportunity to explore astronomy through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Students can participate in the lesson “Telescopes: What Are They?” to discover how telescopes work and how they help us study the universe. They can tour the observatory space and view a selection of telescopes up close.

Scavenger Hunts
The Herrett Center educator has created interactive scavenger hunts that encourage students to explore and engage with the exhibits. This year’s scavenger hunts feature themes including Earth science, space, the Ice Age, and Idaho history.
