For Teens Only!
This fall, the Herrett Center is introducing a new program just for teens in grades 9-12. The Herrett Teens for the Humanities program will allow students from
Twin Falls and Jerome school districts the opportunity to come together with like-minded teens to learn in-depth about Southern Idaho through fun projects, special
trips, and interesting guest speakers.
What are the Humanities?
- Studies about human culture including history, literature, philosophy, anthropology, art history, and even comparative religions.
- Studying the humanities helps you gain wisdom.
- Herrett Teens will focus on the history, archaeology, and anthropology of Southern Idaho.
What will Herrett Teens do?
- Meet and get to know other like-minded teens from the area.
- Spend time at the Herrett Center each week with lots of opportunities to go behind the scenes.
- Travel to lots of different places around Southern Idaho to learn about its history and cultures.
- See what it's like to work in a museum.
- Meet lots of interesting guest speakers from around the area.
- Eat lots of snacks!
How will Herrett Teens benefit from the program?
- Teens will have the opportunity to learn about aspects of Southern Idaho history that are not covered in school.
- They will have a chance to meet experts in the fields of history and anthropology and ask them lots of questions.
- The program will look great on your résumé!
- Teens will get to meet lots of cool people and become part of an open-minded, supportive community.
- Also the snacks.
Program Details
- The Herrett Teens will meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
- The first day of the program will be September 13th and it will run until December 1st.
- There will be at least one Saturday trip in October.
- Space is limited. You must fill out an application in order to be selected for the program.
- Only 20-25 teens will be selected, so make sure your application is honest and thoughtful!
