The Bonneville Flood was one of the largest and most powerful floods in North American history, yet it remains one of the least-known geologic events in the American West. Overshadowed by the famous Missoula Floods of the Pacific Northwest, this Ice Age megaflood dramatically reshaped southern Idaho, carving canyons, sculpting coulees, transporting massive boulders, and leaving unmistakable evidence across the Snake River Plain and beyond. Join geologist, professor, and author Shawn Willsey as he retraces the path of the Bonneville Flood, reveals the clues geologists use to reconstruct this extraordinary event, and explores how its legacy continues to define the landscapes of southern Idaho today.
