Forum Description

The Miller-Butte Landfill was created in 1993 and designed to serve seven counties in the Magic Valley until 2080. Now, with the valley’s growth rate and increase in commercial waste, it is estimated that there is only enough space left to manage the site for about 35 years. To save the counties time and resources, the Southern Idaho Solid Waste District is exploring a partnership that could eventually recycle up to half of the waste going into the landfill. Director Nate Francisco will uncover the science and the business case for how this can be possible.
