BASE Jumping the Perrine Bridge

Sometime in the mid to late 1990s, Twin Falls started to become a “worldwide mecca” for an extreme sport known as BASE jumping (BASE is an acronym for “building, antenna, span, earth”). Parachutists from around the world began coming to Twin Falls where it was possible to BASE jump 486 feet off the Perrine Bridge practically year-round without being arrested. The bridge is currently the only man-made structure in the United States where base jumping is allowed year round without a permit.

Presenter Bio

Tom Aiello is the founder of, and chief instructor at Snake River BASE Academy in Twin Falls, the only BASE school in the world. Tom Aiello started Snake River BASE Academy in 2005 to improve the quality of BASE-jumping instruction and to develop a comprehensive course of instruction to introduce the basics of BASE jumping, and provide intermediate skills training.
