Creating Critters - Pink Blackbird

Creating Critters - 2020

Pink Blackbird by Nattalee M.

“My animal is called a Pink Blackbird.  It is a nocturnal bird that lives in the tropical rainforest.  It is a small omnivore that is the size of a crayon box and it eats insects leaves from trees.  It has really soft feathers all over its body.  It is black on its back and on the top part of its wings and it has a black spot on its stomach.  It is pink on its stomach and on the bottom part of its wings.  The girl Pink Blackbird is shiny on the black parts of its body with three purple feathers on its head and the boy Pink Blackbird is shiny on the pink parts with three orange feathers on its head.  The shiny parts of their bodies help them find a boyfriend or girlfriend.  Their eyes and small feet are blue with a golden beak.  The Pink Blackbird lives in pairs for their whole lives unless they have babies, then they will take care of the baby Pink Blackbirds until they are old enough to take care of themselves.”
“Hello!  My name is Ash, I'm 20 years old, and I’m a student at CSI and a volunteer at the Herrett Center.   I've been interested in art for about 10 years now, and I'm currently getting started on a comic.  I really liked working on the Pink Blackbird.  Birds and wings are very fun to draw and this one was especially so!  It was a great project and I'm glad I got to do it.” – Ash Wheeler
